"Filth" (dt. Buchtitel: Drecksau") ist die Verfilmung des gleichnamigen Romans des Kult-Autors Irvine Welsh ("Trainspotting"). Darin geht es um einen rassistischen, drogensüchtigen, korrupten, frauenverachtenden schottischen Polizisten Bruce Robertson (gespielt von James McAvoy). Sein Kollege Ray Lennox wird von Jamie Bell (King Kong, Jumper) gespielt. Der eher unbekannte schottische Regisseur Jon S. Baird hat das Drehbuch geschrieben und führt die Regie.
In einem Interview sagte er: “Filth is filled with irreverent comedy and some extremely surreal moments, but ends with a sharp twist of poignancy. The character of Bruce Robertson has to show such a wide range that it could only take an actor as talented as James McAvoy to pull it off with the necessary charm and humanity.”
