"MEGheads... about the MEG rating....
I don't know WHAT PG it is, I only know it is NOT an R film... which is FANTASTIC NEWS. It doesn't mean there is not blood and gore, it doesn't mean it won't be the scariest film of the year or the best shark movie ever... what it means is that teens/young adults can see it!
If you get an R rating, you eliminate a massive segment of the potential audience - and in the case of MEG, that is huge. Imagine all of the students reading the book in high school NOT being allowed to see... it would kill the money-earning potential of the film and series.
Many of you read MEG as part of your high school curriculum. If MEG was an R-rated book, you would not have been allowed to read it in school. And if the MEG movie had received an R rating, parents would protest students reading it.
Will the movie have frightening scenes? Hell, yes!
Will you be on the edge of your seat? Hell, yes?
Will it be a blood bath? WHY WOULD I EVER WANT THAT? This isn't the freakin' Texas Chain Saw Massacre! And the scariest movie scenes are the ones where you're mind is anticipating.... what will happen next? I can't look!
There are often subtle differences that separate PG, PG-13, PG-17, and R. Example: The WATCHMEN. I enjoyed it, but as a box office draw, it failed.
Why?
It was R-rated.
Why was it R-rated?
Blood? No.
Sex? Meh...
Language? Meh..
It was R-rated because the director chose to keep the Big Blue Dude naked, with his giant blue dong hanging all over the screen.
Was that REALLY necessary? Could the plot have survived without a 30-foot blue penis?
Guys... TRUST ME - the fact that MEG is not an R is fantastic news.
As for those of you who REFUSE to see it... let's just see what happens when you are sitting in your theater seat this X-Mas and the MEG MOVIE TRAILER comes on--
HAH! You'll be pre-buying your tickets... chanting like these guys!

Zusammengefasst:
Meg wird nicht PG-R. Wohl eher PG13 oder 17. Und zu Weihnachten kommt der erste Trailer. It's about time!
