49 years ago today, families all over Britain were sitting at their black and white TV sets, preparing to watch a new TV show that, according to the TV listings, didn’t seem especially sure what its name was.
It was one of only two possible broadcast choices that night, as there were only two channels available at the time.
Both the BBC and ITV were trying hard to figure out what they could do with this new and popular medium, but were still largely devoted to recreating theatrical performances for a living room audience.

To celebrate 49 years, the official Doctor Who sitehas been expanding with almost a hundred galleries and new clips, photo-novels and Fact Files from the William Hartnell era.

Also, ich glaub es lief gestern ganz erfolgreich 
Fans sind sie zwar noch nicht, aber stark interessiert... zumindest haben sie, als ich nach der Van Gogh Folge meinte es sei doch schon spät, noch nach einer weiteren Folge gebettelt...
Lustig war, dass durch die Folgen die ich ausgesucht habe da irgendwie 'running gags' entstanden zb. die Bananen, das Tanzen des Doctors, das ständige weglaufen der Companions und wie genervt der Doctor darüber ist...

Ich hab gestern nochmal "Silence in the LIbrary" und "Forest of the Dead" gesehen und muss sagen, dass man die Folgen komplett mit anderen AUgen sieht, wenn man die späteren Episoden bereits kennt. Sehr interessant, aber am Ende war ich doch erschrocken.
Ich hatte völlig vergessen, dass Professor River Song am Ende stirbt. 
Beim ersten Mal schauen ging es mir nicht so nahe, weil ich sie ja nicht kannte, aber nun habe ich sie richtig gern und war am Ende doch recht traurig Ja, sie lebt noch irgendwo irgendwie, aber halt nur als Backup.
