BBC One hat sich für "Hard Sun" erneut mit "Luther"-Schöpfer Neil Cross verbündet, um uns ein weiteres Cop-Drama zu servieren. Hier allerdings gekoppelt mit dem Chaos, welches die nahe Apokalypse so mitbringt. Sechs Folgen wurden bestellt, in denen die zwei einander nicht unbedingt freundlich gesinnten Cops Elaine Renko und Robert Hicks in London alles daran setzen, die Ordnung aufrecht zu erhalten und somit ihre Familien zu beschützen, obwohl das Ende unabwendbar näher kommt und Verbrecher so keine Angst mehr vor Bestrafung oder Gefängnis verspüren. Hemmungen sind also dahin. Soll kein SciFi werden, sondern realistisches Drama in unserer Welt. Nur eben am Abgrund des großen Endes.
