BURBANK, CA May 18, 2011 Filming begins this week on Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures Dark Shadows, which brings the cult classic television series to the big screen under the direction of Tim Burton. The films all-star ensemble cast includes Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer, Helena Bonham Carter, Eva Green, Jackie Earle Haley, Jonny Lee Miller, Bella Heathcote, Chloe Moretz, and newcomer Gulliver McGrath.

In the year 1752, Joshua and Naomi Collins, with young son Barnabas, set sail from Liverpool, England to start a new life in America. But even an ocean was not enough to escape the mysterious curse that has plagued their family. Two decades pass and Barnabas (Johnny Depp) has the world at his feet”or at least the town of Collinsport, Maine. The master of Collinwood Manor, Barnabas is rich, powerful and an inveterate playboy¦until he makes the grave mistake of breaking the heart of Angelique Bouchard (Eva Green). A witch, in every sense of the word, Angelique dooms him to a fate worse than death: turning him into a vampire, and then burying him alive.

Two centuries later, Barnabas is inadvertently freed from his tomb and emerges into the very changed world of 1972. He returns to Collinwood Manor to find that his once-grand estate has fallen into ruin. The dysfunctional remnants of the Collins family have fared little better, each harboring their own dark secrets. Matriarch Elizabeth Collins Stoddard (Michelle Pfeiffer) has called upon live-in psychiatrist, Dr. Julia Hoffman (Helena Bonham Carter), to help with her family troubles.

Also residing in the manor is Elizabeths neer-do-well brother, Roger Collins, (Jonny Lee Miller); her rebellious teenage daughter Carolyn Stoddard (Chloe Moretz); and Rogers precocious 10-year-old son, David Collins (Gulliver McGrath). Wäre es nicht passender hier Eli Stone, Trainspotting, Mindhunters oder Aeon Flux zu nennen?
Weil.....in Dexter scheint er ja erst Staffel 4 bzw. 5 zu sein und die hat ja nun noch nicht jeder gesehen (ich z.B.).

Zur Story:
Hhmmm......hört sich für mich erstmal nicht sooo interessant an. Und dass Burton nicht mal ein Film ohne Depp und Carter macht, finde ich auch schade.

Mal sehen, wie der erste Trailer so aussehen wird.

Klingt super und ich hab da echt richtig Lust drauf. Sehr geil auch, dass der Film in den 70ern spielt. Da wird Burton hoffentlich ein bisschen 70er-Hammer-Horror-Feeling mit rein bringen.

Ähm.....ist Frankenweenie nicht sowas wie Nightmare before Christmas und Corpse Bright? Also von der Machart? Wenn ja, dann zählt das für mich nicht.
Ich meine schon einen Film in dem Menschen zu sehen sind, nicht Knetmasse.

Mal davon abgesehen, dass im Film keine "Knetmasse" zu sehen sein wird, ist auch ein Animationsfilm ein Film wie jeder andere. Da würde ich doch sagen: das zählt sehr wohl. Gerade im Hinblick darauf, dass Burton auch bei Corpse Bride mit Depp und Bonham Carter zusammengearbeitet hat.

Grundsätzlich gebe ich dir recht, aber wenn ein Schauspieler einer Figur die Stimme leiht, ist es auch für mich nicht ganz das gleiche, als wenn er aktiv vor der Kamera stünde und die gesamte Performance auf Zelluloid gebannt würde. Und ich denke, so ist es auch von Manni gemeint, völlig wertfrei.

Das Animierte Filme (auf welche Weise auch immer animiert) weniger wert oder keine echten Filme sind, habe ich mit keinem Wort gesagt.

Burton hat in einem Interview ein bisselchen was zum möglichen Stil des Film gesagt:

Its based on a soap opera. Will it have that soapy quality?
Yes, I dont know. Im early into it because its a funny tone, and thats part of what the vibe of the show is, and theres something about it that we want to get. But when you look at it, its pretty bad. Im hoping that it will be -- its early days, lets put it -- Im very intrigued by the tone. Its a real ethereal tone were trying to go for and I dont know yet.

Außerdem bestätigte er, dass der Film nicht in 3D kommen wird (Stand das überhaupt jemals zur Debatte?) und sagt auch sonst etwas, wie ich finde sehr zutreffendes, über 3D:

Will Dark Shadows be in 3D?
I have no plans for that. I loved doing "Alice" in 3D. Freankeweenie, gonna do that in 3D. Theres people like, "Everythings gonna be in 3D," or "I hate 3D!" I think people should have a choice. I dont think it should be forced on anybody. At the same time, its great, some of it. Its like "Yes or no!? 3D! Yes or no?!" Its like, well, you know, come on, whatever, some yes, some no.

Übrigens macht gerade das Gerücht die Runde, dass Alice Cooper im Film mitspielen wird. Wenn ja, dann, so vermute ich, aber nur als Kurzauftritt. Würde ja auch ganz gut zum 70er Jahre Setting passen.

Ich hoffe mal, dass das extreme Make-Up irgendwelche inhaltlichen Gründe hat und das nicht immer so aussieht. Das nimmt jetzt schon wieder Hutmacher-Züge an und das ist in dem Film dann sicherlich zu viel weißes Geschminke. Aber gut, es sind dann auch erstmal nur Setbilder. Kann im Film wieder völlig anders wirken.

Hmmm,... sehe ich jetzt erstmal genauso. Allerdings liebe ich das Gespann Burton/Depp eigentlich und falls da wieder eine ähnlich herrlich-schaurige Stimmung wie in Sweeney Todd, Edward mit den Scherenhänden oder Sleepy Hollow zustande kommt dann wäre ich zufrieden. Vielleicht wirkt das wirklich im Film dann ganz anders. Ich hoffe es.

Wenn sie es ziemlich dunkel halten und eher in Farblos dann wirkt das nicht übertrieben.

Obwohl ich für einen Skurillen Vampirfilm gerne offen bin da es sowas schon ewig nicht gegeben hat bzw wenn sie es versuchten eher floppte...
