Producer Jerry Bruckheimer wünscht sich den Film, es gibt aber aktuell nichts neues zu berichten. Das Drehbuch dreht sich immer noch darum, ob Piloten wie Maverick komplett von Drohnen ersetzt werden können.
"Well you know, technology has changed obviously since we made the first one. So I think we're going to take advantage of what the world is like today, with the drones kinda taking over a lot of our wars today, but is the pilot obsolete? Those jet jockeys, are they gone now? No, I don't think so, I think they're going to be around for quite a while. Because you still have to make quick decisions and the pilots who want to make quick decisions, so we're going to hopefully highlight both worlds."

“I think this is a movie that should be in 3-D and in IMAX, and again something that you can shoot practically. As everyone knows with Tom, he is 100% going to want to be in those airplanes shooting it practically. When you look at the world of dogfighting, what’s interesting about it is that it’s not a world that exists to the same degree when the original movie came out. This world has not been explored. It is very much a world we live in today where it’s drone technology and fifth generation fighters are really what the United States Navy is calling the last man-made fighter that we’re actually going to produce so it’s really exploring the end of an era of dogfighting and fighter pilots and what that culture is today are all fun things that we’re gonna get to dive into in this movie.”
“Justin Marks is writing the screenplay right now. He has a phenomenal take to really update that world for what fighter pilots in the Navy has turned into today. There is an amazing role for Maverick in the movie and there is no Top Gun without Maverick, and it is going to be Maverick playing Maverick. It is I don’t think what people are going to expect, and we are very, very hopeful that we get to make the movie very soon. But like all things, it all comes down to the script, and Justin is writing as we speak.”
Nicht viel neues. Film wird in 3D kommen, Tom Cruise als Maverick hat Hauptrolle und wird Jets fliegen, und es geht um den Einsatz von Dronen. Script ist aber noch nicht fertig - und da sitzt immer noch der Street Fighter Legend of Chun-Li Typ dran.

Tom Cruise ist immer noch interessiert dran, und wünscht, dass die Flugzeugszenen mit echten Jets gedreht und nicht bloß in CGI zusammengebastelt werden.

Sollte man sich in jedem Fall David Kung Fury Sandberg einkaufen, sonst wird das nichts.
Wenn man mich nach meinen liebsten OSTs fragt, dann sind ganz oben mit dabei Blade Runner, Conan der Barbar, The Crow und Top Gun ist in jedem Fall auch relativ weit oben.
Nun kommen also unzählige Remakes dazu, bin gespannt ob auch nur ein einziger OST mit dem Original mithalten kann und ob die sich da überhaupt Mühe geben.

Das frage ich mich auch. Es hieß doch in Gerüchten, dass Kilmer Krebs am Hals hätte und dass es nicht gut aussäh. Wäre ja höchsterfreulich, wenn er wieder gesund würde. Ist ja generell erstmal ein cooler Vogel, der Kilmer.
edit: im Oktober hat Val folgendes auf Facebook geschrieben:
"Thank you all for your love and support. There's a rumor I'm unwell again and in hospital which is totally untrue. I was in to verify I have no tumor or infection of any kind which was verified by the very caring experts at UCLA."
Also scheints doch gut zu sein !

Da Mission Impossible 6 auch dieses Jahr noch gestartet werden soll und Edge of Tomorrow 2 auch in ernsten Überlegungen steht, könnte es für Top Gun 2 eng werden.
Außerdem benötigt Val Kilmer evtl noch Zeit. Der ist angeblich vor einigen Monaten operiert worden und soll jetzt gut genesen.

Hoffentlich bleiben die sich mit dem Stil des ersten Films treu. Luftkämpfe, hitzköpfige Piloten, flache Sprüche und Sommerfeeling auf den Marine Stützpunkten
